Itinerary:
Approx. Distance: ~13.6km return
Elevation Gain to Pass: ~509m

The early part is along a level trail with most of the elevation gain being in the last 3 km. Once the pass has been reached, a wonderful view of the Powder Creek Valley is available.

We'll plan for snowshoeing but bring Micro Spikes, as the trail may be packed down. We can decide when we get to the trail head. If you only have snowshoes you should be good to go.
Note that we will take a few breaks along the way and we will plan to have lunch at the pass. Please do not be in a rush to return to Calgary; we are out to enjoy the day and time may vary.

Our pace will be relaxed during the uphill portions and moderate for the balance.

Required Items to Bring:
- Snowshoes
- Plenty of water (~1L )
- Hat and Mitts
- Lunch
- First-aid kit is always highly recommended
- Plastic bag to put muddy footwear in
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
- Hiking poles
- Micro Spikes in case the trail is packed down and you decide to forego the snowshoes
- Thermos with hot beverage
- Bear Spray: we're halfway through March and early bears are a possibility

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Calgary, take Hwy 22 south to Bragg Creek. At the traffic lights turn left and proceed South 2km to Highway 66. At the T-junction turn right and proceed West into Kananaskis Country to Elbow Falls parking lot, where we'll meet. There is no carpool organized for this trip. If you need transportation, contact me and I can try to coordinate a ride with other participants for you.
