Itinerary:

The trail winds and switchbacks steadily upwards through forest with few opportunities to catch your breath. The tree cover doesn't allow for many viewpoints along the way but the summit boasts a full panorama of prairie, foothills, and (possibly... but not likely this year) snowy peaks!

The pace will be slow and steady (~3 km/hr up, depending upon grade), with regular water / snack / layering breaks, but no sit-down stops until we reach the lunch spot at the top after about 3 hours of hiking. Note that this hike does have over 700m of ascent (not a 'hill'!), so a moderate level of fitness is required to make this a safe and enjoyable (tolerable?) outing - this is not a beginner or season starter hike. Faster hikers are welcome but will be expected to stay within view the group. If you don't like to walk slow or wait, this isn't the hike for you.

Expect to share the trail with many other hikers, bikes and possibly horses.

This event may be cancelled if the forecast is not favourable.
