A popular trail in the Kananaskis area with excellent views. We will cross Barrier Dam and climb from that point on. The grade is steady with some steep sections and many switchbacks. Most of the trail will be shady, as we are in the trees until we reach the ridge. Here, the trail narrows and becomes steep for the last 200m before the cliff top lookout where we will grab a quick lunch.

We will be moving at a steady, moderate pace to stay warm, with photo stops at the view points. From the lunch spot, conditions permitting, we'll continue down to the tree line and follow the trail down to Jewell Bay, where we will loop back to the dam and the parking lot. NOTE: If conditions are poor, we'll make lunch short and return the way we came.
