Your coordinators have not done this trip before. Do not be in a rush to get back to Calgary -- event time may vary. The first 1.2km are fairly steep and then it flattens out. There is a short steep scramble section to the top(approx. 10 minutes) but is has lots of handholds and footholds with minor amount of exposure. We will return the same way as we came up.

Required Items to Bring:
-Waterproof hiking footwear
-Icers or microspikes
-Sleeve over camelbak tubing so if it's cold your water tubing doesn't freeze.
-2 pairs of gloves.(you sweat going up, so if you don't have extra pair in pack to switch to your hands will freeze)
-2 pairs of socks...if your boots are not waterproof or your feet just get cold with snow going into your boots and you don't have extra dry pair in pack to switch to, your feet will freeze.
-Extra layer under hiking pants and waterproof/wind proof pants(if cold/alot of snow(wet/dry))and you just have 1 layer regular very light hiking pants and they get wet, you will freeze.
-Well equipped day pack
- Bag for dirty boots
- Lunch and water
- Remember to dress in layers
-money for carpool driver

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take Highway #1 westbound and exit onto Highway #40 South. Follow Highway #40 to the Highwood winter gates, turn right on Highway 742 (Kananaskis Lakes Trail) for 2.2km and turn right on Smith Dorrien Trail and trailhead will be 2.7km in at locked gate.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $76.80 (calculated at total Km * $0.32, effective Sunday, February 16, 2025).
