Let’s enjoy a snow-free highway before it opens up to vehicles!

It’s 18km each way, with about 128m elevation up on the first leg, and the reverse on the way back.

We’ll park at the Winter Gate and cycle west passing Foran Grade Trailhead, the Lookout Bench, Bighorn Lookout, RB Millar Biological Station, Bluerock Campground, and finish up at the end of the road (Junction Creek Trailhead/Sheep River Trail Trailhead). A moderate pace should get us to the turnaround spot in 90 minutes.

90 minutes will be the cut off time regardless of where you are on the road. Turn around and start cycling back to the Winter Gate to ensure we all finish at the 3 hour event duration.

Road bike or e-bike with bell, well maintained!
- Helmet
- Tools and spare tube
- Kananaskis Conservation Pass
- Water
- Snacks/lunch
- Clothing appropriate for weather conditions
- Bear Spray

Event Directions:

From Carpool in McKenzie Towne:
- Drive west on Stony Trail/201/22X.
- Turn south onto Hwy 22/Cowboy Trail/208 St.
- In Turner Valley, turn west onto Sunset Blvd/AB-546
- Stop at Winter Gate.
