Distance: 8.4km
Elevation Gain: Approx 770 meters
Pace: steady while ascending, moderate for the flat and descending sections. I’m hoping to get to the top in 90 minutes.

Alberta Parks invested $825,000 into the restoration and improvement of the Prairie Mountain trail. The trail is now wider, has switchbacks to ease the steep climb as well as rock steps in a couple of places for shortcuts and rock chairs to enjoy the view about half way up and at the summit. It still is a grueling hike up.
Our plan is once we reach the summit of Prairie Mountain, we will take some time to catch our breath, have lunch, if it isn't too windy, and enjoy the view. We will descend the same way we came up.
Dogs are allowed, but require to be leashed.
Kananaskis Conservation Pass fees apply for any vehicle access into Kananaskis Country. The mandatory fee of: Day pass - $15 (registers one vehicle) or Yearly pass - $90 (registers up to 2 vehicles) applies. You can purchase your pass beforehand,online at: Kananaskis Conservation Pass
