Itinerary:

The trail winds and switchbacks steadily upwards through forest with few opportunities to catch your breath. The tree cover doesn't allow for many viewpoints along the way but the summit boasts a full panorama of prairie, foothills, and nearby peaks.

The pace will be moderate and steady with short breaks as needed, but no sit-down stops until we reach the lunch spot at the top. If the top is too windy, we'll retreat back down a bit to shelter in or near the trees for lunch. Note that this hike does have over 700m of ascent, so a moderate level of fitness is required to make this a safe and enjoyable outing. This is NOT a beginner hike. Expect snow and ice on the trail. MICROSPIKES (OR SIMILAR TRACTION DEVICE) ARE MANDATORY.

Pass by the Jumping Pound Demonstration forest and the Sibbald Lake Camping area on the right. Turn left shortly after, onto the Powderface Trail. The parking lot is the Dawson Equestrian lot and it will be on your left.
