Itinerary:
Approx. Distance: 16km return
Elevation Gain to Pass 509m/loss 289.

Hiking boots required - sorry no runners or jeans.

We will meet at the Powderface Creek parking lot, just past the Elbow Falls parking lot and the winter gate. The trail follows the Powderface Creek Valley for about 4 km before beginning its climb through the forest to the pass (approx. 3 more km). The early part of the trip is along fairly level trail with most of the elevation gain being in the last 3 km. Once the pass has been reached a wonderful view of the the Powder Creek Valley is available.

If you're not sure how high 509M is, the Calgary Tower is 190.8M high, so it would be like going up/down the tower a bit more than 2 1/2 times.

It has been suggested to me since we are now hiking in "winter conditions" to code this event "moderate to difficult". There is currently snow on the trail so there is much more of a workout then a regular summer hike, which means that this hike is not recommended for members who have not yet hiked this year.
