Itinerary:

Elevation: 417 M

In the coordinator’s view, this is one of the best hikes for views of mountain ranges and, hopefully wildflowers, without a huge effort. It is 3.5 km to the summit, with a gain of 417 metres.

The beginning of the hike starts with a small creek crossing. We then follow switchbacks up through the forest. At the top you'll – hopefully - see beautiful alpine meadows with wildflowers. We'll stop for lunch when we reach the summit of Jumpingpound Mountain. Following lunch, we will head west along the ridge to the intersection of Cox Hill, and then return the same way. Depending on the conditions, we could add a short walk along the eastern part of the ridge.

The pace for the hike is moderate.

Required Items to Bring:

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Brentwood LRT, we will head west on Highway 1 to Highway 68, Sibbald Creek Trail. This road contains many potholes, and some gravel sections. We will turn onto Powderface Trail, which is entirely gravel.

There is no signage to indicate the parking lot for the trailhead for Jumpingpound Ridge.

If someone wants to meet at the trailhead, particularly if coming from the south, you would travel south on Highway 66 until you reach Powderface Trail. Go north on Powderface Trail which is a gravel road for 14.8KM, Please keep an eye on KM. The trailhead is north of Canyon Creek (Mount McDougall Memorial). If you go as far as Lusk Creek, you have passed the trailhead for the Summit.
