Join us for a Chrismassy full day of carpooling out to Banff for a hike up Sulphur Mountain, a free ride down the Gondola, a long soothing soak in the Upper Hot Springs and ... and ... the best bit, food and pressies! After burning off all those calories, enjoy a lovely dinner at Melissa's Restaurant where we have our own dining room and at which we'll exchange presents.

We’ll hike up Sulphur Mountain in Banff. (It is such a beautiful view up from the top. You can pack a healthy lunch or buy one at the top to enjoy with the panoramic view. (NB: Expect tourist prices for the food).

Once at the top we'll complete the hike by taking 1 km boardwalk trail at the top to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site (20 minutes each way). Going back down the mountain, in wintertime only, the gondola ride is FREE (it still is.. yippee), we’ll ride that down and then enjoy a couple of healthy soothing hours in the Banff Upper Hot Springs (I hope it snows then! it's neat), doze, chat and get to know your fellow members better, so bring your bathing suit and a towel.

After the Hot Springs, into the Town of Banff we go to our reserved room and tables at Melissa's Restaurant to have our choice of calories and poison after burning off all those calories.

Take Hwy 1, (Trans Canada Hwy) west to Banff National Park. Take the Banff, Lake Minnewanka exit and turn left at the stop sign onto Banff Ave. Follow Banff Ave thru town and across Bow River Bridge. At “T” intersection after the bridge, turn left. After a few hundred metres around a bend, to the right is a fork in the road, bear right onto Mountain Ave. After about 5 minutes you’ll see the Rim Rock Hotel on your left, keep going for a hundred metres bearing right until you come to a small traffic circle which is in front of the parking lot of the Banff Upper Hot Springs.
