First stop will be at Pocaterra Hut for lunch at 11:00a.m. and to get geared up for the trail. Please bring your lunch as there are no services at the hut, just a warm place to eat ! We will then drive up the Smith Dorrien Road to the trailhead.

This is a new, easy snow shoe trail created near Burstall Pass and is great for beginners. If you have never snow shoed before, this is the perfect outing for you! It is short and easy, and we're in no rush to get to the end of the trail. I recommend bringing easy to eat snacks if desired for the afternoon as there is no place to stop along the way. Layered clothing is essential - when we're moving you'll be warm, when we stop you'll be cold.

Please note that since this is a beginner snowshoe event, there will be a limit of 3 dogs allowed to join us(first ones to sign up will go on the event) - Ensure you bring a leash, otherwise your best friend cannot snowshoe with us. Thank you for your understanding.

Explorer Trip: Your coordinator has not done this trip before but wants to try it. Please allow time/patience for unforseen circumstances. Rhonda will not be attending the event, but is coordinating the carpool.

Note that this event requires driving several kilometers up the Smith-Dorrien Road, which is a gravel road, and can be icy/treacherous, especially if your vehicle is not appropriate for winter conditions, or if you are not an experienced winter driver. Obviously we need drivers to make this event happen, but please indicate that you're willing to drive ONLY if you and your vehicle are appropriate for some more difficult winter conditions than regular highway driving. In case there are not enough drivers, those unable to drive will be moved to the wait list, in order of last signed-up, and moved back on as drivers are available. Please let me know how many passengers you can take when you register. Thanks!
