If it's a nice day the scenery is spectacular, so we'll stop to play and take photos. Please plan to arrive at carpool at least 10 minutes early so we can head out right on time.

Note that this event requires driving several kilometers up the Smith Dorrien Road, which is a gravel road, and can be icy/treacherous, especially if your vehicle is not appropriate for winter conditions, or if you are not an experienced winter driver. Obviously we need drivers to make this event happen, but please indicate that you're willing to drive ONLY if you and your vehicle are appropriate for some more difficult winter conditions than regular highway driving.

Required Items to Bring:
- snowshoes
- poles are strongly recommended
- hiking boots + gaiters, or winter boots
- rentals are available, if required, at Sports Rent (4424-16 Ave NW), U of C Outdoor Centre.
- easy to eat snacks and lunch + drinks
- lots of warm layers!
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take Hwy 1 west out of town. Go south on Hwy 40 for approx 56km. Turn right onto the Kananaskis Lakes Trail just before the winter gate. Turn into the parking area for Pocaterra, located directly across from the turnoff for the Smith Dorrien Hwy. See Peter Lougheed Map.
