We are very fortunate in that this course, which usually costs $250 per person, will be paid for us by another organization!! Since your COC coordinators play an important role and take on a lot of responsibility when they take you out to the mountains, they will get FIRST DIBS to register for this course. HOWEVER, as of 7pm Wednesday, if the coordinators have not filled the spots, I will start shifting members who have participated in several COC Mountain Activities (eg. scrambles or mountain hikes or backpacking trips...) from the wait list to the event list. Coordinators and members who have only participated in city COC events will unfortunately not be eligible. So check your emails to see if you've been approved since you will need to get paperwork completed by March 7th. If non-coordinators register prior to Wednesday 7PM, they will automatically be moved to the wait list.

This 3-day event will be given to us by Rocky Mtn. Adventure Medicine Inc. This course is based on Standard First Aid principles with a focus on back-country situations, and features one day of outside scenario simulations and 2 days of indoor training.

Course Length: 24 hours -- March 30th & April 5 & April 6

Some of the items that will be covered will be:
• Patient assessment • Wound management • Fractures • Dislocations • Head and facial trauma • Lightning • Dehydration • Cold injuries • Bites, stings, poisons and toxins • Drowning/near drowning • Changes in level of consciousness • Respiratory distress • Diabetes • Outdoor first-aid kits • Packaging and transportation • and more.....

PLEASE NOTE.. that even though your name is on the event or wait list, we need to approve your training request. If approved, you will be receiving an email with the name of the contact person that has covered the cost for your registration. He needs to speak to you ASAP --before the end of the week. There is paperwork that you must complete, and if this is not completed by Friday, March 7th, then you will not be able to participate in the event.

Since this course is being paid for us, if you sign up we need100% commitmentthat you will attend:

- You must participate in all 3 training days March 30th & April 5 & April 6.(No exceptions.)
- You must have coordinated or participated in several outdoor COC MOUNTAIN ACTIVITIES (eg. scrambles or mountain hikes, backpacking trips..)
- If you have been approved and all the paperwork has been completed and you then cancel after the cut-off date you will automatically be coded a "no show".

PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A STRICT DEADLINE OF FRIDAY 7, 2008 TO COMPLETE ALL THE REGISTRATION. AFTER THAT DATE ALL UNFILLED SPOTS AND/OR ALL APPROVED PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE EVENT AND THESE PAID SPOTS WILL BE GIVEN TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION.
