Please be advised that your spot is not reserved until you have paid. The first people who pay will take priority. You will be removed from the list, and put to the back of the wait list if your payment is not recorded by the treasurer within one week. Please DO NOT register unless you then immediately arrange for payment - your payment is due at registration. Those on the waitlist: Do not pay unless you are registered as an attendee. You will be notified via email should this occur - then proceed with payment immediately.
Accepted Method of payment: Cash or cheques are NOT ACCEPTED for this event. Please e-mail me indicating that you have sent your payment. Hiking Note: All hikes will be slowpokes, dawdlers & photographers. Group must stay together on all hikes. Friday, July 18/08: Leave carpool location at 8:30a.m. Drive to Takakkaw Falls parking lot. Once there, we will have lunch near the falls. After lunch, we will do an afternoon hike (Trail TBD). After our hike, we will check-in at the rustic Whiskey Jack Hostel (which is near at Takakkaw Falls http://www.hihostels.ca/pm/en/bchostels.aspx?sortcode=2.27) and relax for the rest of the evening. The hostel has a BBQ, a firepit, a kitchen, lockers, and plenty of parking. Bring your food, water & drinks for 2 1/2 days (breakfasts x 2, packed lunches x 3, and BBQ at suppers x 2). Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair! Note: The dorm room accommodates 9 people and has one shower & one toilet. Since we are 6, please expect the room to be co-ed, and also expect the other 3 beds to be occupied by non-members of COC. Should you not be comfortable with these sleeping arrangements or a rustic hostel, DO NOT sign-up. Sleeping bags are NOT ALLOWED at this hostel. Saturday, July 19/08: Leave the hostel at 7:30a.m to catch the 8:30a.m. bus at Lake O’Hara (we need to be there at 8:00a.m). Spend the day hiking Lake O’Hara area (trails TBD – I have a map plus am doing a pre-trip !!!). When we’ve had our fill of hiking, we will catch the bus back to the parking lot (last bus is at 6:30p.m.). Drive back to the hostel and once again relax for the evening, and BBQ. Sunday, July 20/08: This will be a long day since the 3-hour drive to Calgary will take place at the end of the day. Leave the hostel at 7:30a.m. to catch the 8:30a.m. bus at Lake O’Hara. Once again, spend the day hiking around Lake O’Hara area. A consensus of the group will decide which bus to catch out. Once again, the last bus is at 6:30p.m. DO NOT make any plans for Sunday night so everyone has the chance to stay as long as possible should this be the group’s consensus. If you have plans, or anticipate an early return on Sunday, DO NOT sign-up for this event. Once we are finished hiking and upon returning to the Lake O’Hara parking lot, the group will decide whether to stop to have a sit-down supper or get take-out for the ride back to Calgary. Expected return to the carpool location will be anywhere from 6:00p.m. to Midnight….

Carpool Cost: | Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $150.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Friday, March 29, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle. | ||||||
