Itinerary:
Elevation Gain: 670m to the ridge
Return Distance: about 9km

We'll park at the Upper Lake Day Use parking lot. From there it's a short 3.9 km hike to Rawson Lake, nested between the Upper Kananaskis Lake and the 3,174 metre wall of Mount Sarrail. To the lake it's a height gain of 305 metres, over a distance of 2.2 km. Depending on how the sun hits it, this lake can turn a beautiful jade colour and become irresistible to the shutter bugs. At the far end of the lake we'll sit down for lunch and drinks.

As this is a short hike, the plan is to continue on to the northwest ridge for what promises to be a beautiful view of Upper Kananaskis Lake. The climb to the ridge will be an additional 365 metre height gain over a kilometre or less and may be difficult for some.

This trip is best suited to experienced hikers. Some parts of this trail are quite steep. There may still be some snow patches on the approach to the ridge. A full hiking boot will required for this hike. No runners or low cut footwear allowed.
